Music Magazine Analysis: Double Page Spread #4

Double Page Spread Analysis #4
This double page spread, featuring Kid Cudi, is clearly an image dominating one; in which both pages of the spread is filled with the image, where the text is placed on a section that is reasonably blank that will contrast against the white text.
I think this is an effective layout due to the fact that all the text is white, the background is able to fill the page and make up for the aspects of colour that the text doesn’t have. I think the placement of the text is suitable as it allows it to be clear and easy to read with nothing there to distract is in the background.

I think the layout of the text is effective by the way the title is just Kid Cudi’s name with a slogan referencing to Kanye West, proving the quality and how respected Kid Cudi’s music is ‘Kanye “humble” West calls him “The new me.”’ These along with the bold drop capital make the section of text look more interesting and professional. I think the use of ‘New to Q’ at the top of the page is another feature of text which intrigues and interests the reader into looking at this spread, as it indicates he must be a talented musician. The magazine has also included an image of his album at the end of the text, reminding people that they should go and buy one.
I like the way that the title is simply Kid Cudi’s name; this is something which I am considering utilizing for my double page spread. In addition the drop capital is a feature I intend to use as well, as I think it breaks up the text and makes it look more interesting to read.

I like the way that Kid Cudi is coming out from the dark in the image, it represents his discovery and how he’s emerging successfully into the music industry. The way he is standing with an unfazed expression on his face with both his middle fingers up suggests his rebellious attitude and his ability to not be afraid to do what he wants.
I think this image portrays the personality of Kid Cudi well, and his attitude in the music genre. I intend to choose an image that displays the personality of my artist well also.

Like any other double page spread, there are page and issue numbers, and also a small logo of the magazine to remind the audience where the interesting spread they are reading comes from, possibly influencing them to pick up another one of their magazines in the future.
Considering page numbers are essential attributes of a double page spread in relation to the contents page, I will definitely be including them in my magazine. Along with the magazine name in the corner, which I think makes the magazine look more professional as well as influencing readers to purchase future issues.
